The first live competition of 2020 is coming to Minnesota.

Alexandria, Minnesota (July 24th, 2020) – Baseball isn’t the only sport that’s back! Less than one month from today the first live wake surf event of 2020 will kick off in Minnesota. This year’s Surf MN King of the Lakes Classic, presented by Faction Marine, will take place August 14th to August 16th on the shores of Lake Laura in Alexandria, MN. In years past this location hosted local INT wakeboard events in addition to event waterskiing and slalom competitions. The private lake is located in the heart of the 10,000 lakes region making it the perfect venue for a wake surf competition!

Needless to say, this Gold Level event takes place in unprecedented times amid an ongoing pandemic, given the circumstances we will be enforcing social distancing measures and requiring face masks to help prevent the spread of COVID19. We will also be providing masks to anyone that needs one. Centurion Boats, Faction Marine, and the Competitive Wake Surf Association (CWSA) are committed to the safety of athletes, staff, spectators, and family members, all safety measures implemented are for the purpose of ensuring that safety.

Being one of the few live events this year King of the Lakes will serve as a precursor to the 2020 World Wake Surfing Championship which is scheduled to take place later this Fall in Ft. Worth, Texas. The competition will feature some of the top wake surfers in the country including the reigning Pro Men’s Surf Champion and Centurion Team surfer Conner Burns! Conner is looking for the threepeat this year after winning first place at Worlds in each of the last two seasons. Also registered to attend the event is former six time world champion and Centurion Team surfer Keenan Flegel who will be looking for his seventh championship this October. Other Centurion Team surfers registered include Nicole Hudson, Evan Hudson, Sean Cummings, Nick Parros, Jarrett Scribner, Caitlin Wheeler, and Reed Cole-Tucker.

When asked about contest Amy Mauzy, Vice President of Marketing at Centurion Boats, said, “We couldn’t be more excited to support the 2020 King of the Lakes Classic. Faction Marine is a phenomenal dealer and they’ve gone above and beyond to ensure this competition is an incredible event. We’re excited to be able to help present this event in a safe and responsible manner.”

In addition to the competition Faction Marine will be hosting VIP Centurion & Supreme Boat demos in pre-registered time slots Friday August 14th and Saturday August 15th.
