The first competitive day of the IWWF World Wakeboard Championships kicked off at noon with Under-14 Boys, warm temperatures and sunshine at Puerto Escobar, in the city of Buenos Aires, Argentina. An outstanding performance came from 13-year old Maxime Roux (FRA) who landed high-end tricks usually expected in the Open Men’s category, such as a KGB, Tootsie Roll, Moby Dick, Heelside & Toeside 720 behind the Centurion Ri237 (https://centurionboats.com/boats/ri237/) to advance easily into the next round of competition.

China’s Xu Lu and Australia’s Mackenzie MacCarthy advanced to the Under-14 Girls Final by winning their respective heats. In Junior Women, Italy’s Alice Virag and Australia’s Zahra Kell (AUS), who landed a KGB, won their respective heats, setting the scene for an exciting final. There was plenty of homeland excitement with Nael Bergara (ARG) winning her heat in the Master’s Women to advance to the final, followed by Great Britain’s Sarah Partridge who won her heat.

Veteran rider Andy Meyenberg (SUI), who won the Masters Men’s category at the 1st IWWF World Wakeboard Championships in 2000 held in France, advanced to the Veteran Men’s final together with Dayle Cartwright (USA), competing in his first IWWF World Wakeboard Championships, who won his respective heat.
